[Geeky Guide] Engines Online

Today appears to be a good internet day - at least from my office connection. You can't imagine my relief. While I don't think things are fully restored - my connection at home was still on the fritz with many sites not loading quickly and other services like webcam chat not working, I doubt my connectivity issues are anywhere near over.

Regardless, let's take advantage of what little we've been given so far.

Just two random things I picked up online to start the day - first is a weird news item I read on CNN.com about a man who returned an overdue library book almost 50 years later - talk about dedication! It's an interesting thought that there are people in the world who'd actually take the time and effort to do this.

The second thing, which also acts as proof of my improved connectivity, is the second trailer released for the new Transformers Movie coming out later this year. I know a lot of fans are disappointed with what's been shown so far, but I chose to try and keep an open mind about it. I never expected to see a faithful adaptation of the original cartoon - the best that we can hope for is yet another "re-imagined" series similar to what they did for Battlestar Galactica. No matter how much they're complaining now, you can be sure we're all going to be standing in line to see it when it comes out, hehe.

[Beta] Limited Access

Hello again folks,

As much as I wanted to start 2007 right by increasing my posting frequency here for the Geeky Guide, the recent Taiwan earthquake has made it terribly frustrating to access many of my online tools including Blogger and even several Google services including GMail, of all things.

Thus posting frequency will remain intermitent until they fix those darned underwater cables connecting most of the Asian continent with the rest of the internet.

Just to illustrate, I spent almost an hour of repeatedly trying to log in to Blogger from the office and despite the 100Mbps connection, it's still loading like molasses.

Urk.
