The night of November 5 is traditionally celebrated as Guy Fawkes Night or Bonfire Night in the U.K. and other related territories like New Zealand. The day marks the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot in 1905 made more famous because of the graphic novel V for Vendetta along with the film based on it.

Normally people celebrate with fireworks and by creating bonfires upon with Guy Fawkes effigies are burned. For today, allow me to re-post the popular rhyme that makes it very hard to forget the day...

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
To blow up King and Parliament.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England's overthrow;
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
