[Viral Video Chart] December 30, 2007 - January 5, 2008

Given we crossed over into the New Year this week, you'd expect more videos about fireworks and such topping the Viral Video Chart, but clearly that little event was overshadowed by the recently completed Iowa Caucus. Not many non-politically-inclined videos managed to eke out a spot for themselves although we did get an interesting Tetris video this time around.

And of course there's always Britney Spears to liven up anyone's day!

#1 - Obama's Victory Speech

#2 - The Original Human TETRIS Performance by Guillaume Reymond

#3 - Happy New Year (ABBA)

#4 - Scotch Mist - A Film With Radiohead In It

#12 - EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: BRITNEY SPEARS ON A STRETCHER

[Viral Video Chart] December 9-16, 2007

This wasn't a particularly interesting week for the viral videos, in my opinion and I think what also factors in is that I had already posted many of the videos of interest over the past seven day here on the site, thus no repeat posts for now. Despite all that, here are a few that seemed to get the most clicks / views / embeds despite all that.

As expected, the new Britney Spears video made it to the top of the charts (settling at #2 for the week), but by now the video has been pulled yet again so I'll not bother posting it for now.

Moving right along, here are three other videos of interest:

#7 - Low-Cost Multi-touch Whiteboard using the Wiimote

#9 - SEXY POLE DANCE GIRLS in NYC SUBWAY

#14 - Cooties

[Viral Video Chart] Leave Britney Alone!

This is just freaky - the things some people decide to post on YouTube.

This is currently the top video on the Viral Video Chart, beating out all the 9/11-themed videos posted / revisited because of the anniversary earlier in the week.

#1 - LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!

Now that is one devoted fan - the infamous Chris Crocker. Regardless of his methods, he's certainly generating hits. =P

[Web] K-Fed to Drive Google, Yahoo Out of Business

Google and Yahoo, beware. K-Fed is out to put you out of (the search) business.

With tight integration with FireFox and IE via plugins, this tool will do search and presents

* results with K-Fed's comments (as if you want to know)
* results being delivered by K-Fed - in rap (prepare to mute your headphones/desktop speakers)
* results with relevant products that K-Fed endorses (if any)
* results with pictures of Britney Spears (bald or with hair)

You have been warned. Get it here. As if you're interested. And hey, if you want to party with K-Fed on his birthday, better get it fast.

[Entertainment] Britney News Coverage

I tend to rely on my Google start page to funnel all my news feeds into one place so I can always check on what's going on in the world. It was weird how the recent news about Britney Spears made the front pages of major news services like Reuters, CNN and TIME Magazine. It was a strange sight - you have news about the on-going debate on the Iraq war, the bombings in India and, well, Britney going into rehab after shaving her head.

This is tops news for us now?

Sure, it's a pretty shocking site to see and the story around how she got to shaving her head was pretty freaky, but for the top news agencies to slap this on their front pages? Have we become so obssessed with celebrity brats like her who have clearly gone the deep end with their nightly clubbing sprees and reckless behavior?

Spare me.

Enough is enough, please? I know this still needs to be reported, but not on the front page - it can't be that important. At the very least, I'm glad she's trying to get help. Let's just see if rehab will stick this time around.

EDIT - Oh look - she's left rehab already. Somehow I doubt it's due to a miracle recovery, hehe. Again, this hits the CNN Top Stories page.
