[TV] Oprah's I Gotta Feeling Flash Mob

Nobody does it bigger than Oprah.

She opened her 24th season with a live performance by the Black Eyed Peas this year. Naturally, they performed their hit song, "I Gotta Feeling", which personally I've grown to love and look forward to every time I hit the club scene. Now this being an Oprah Winfrey production, it wasn't enough to have a major record label band perform live for the season opener - they also decided to attempt what is now being touted as the largest single-city flash mob to date.

Sure, we all know it was choreographed and staged but just seeing it on screen was just priceless. It's the kind of video that makes you think of why ImprovEverywhere used to be a lot cooler than it is today and at the same time makes you ponder if you'll ever get to participate in a flash mob like that. Seriously, I wouldn't mind performing a dance routine like that with hundreds of other folks.

If you still have no idea what I'm talking about, then here's the video for your viewing (and potentially dancing) pleasure.

[Philippines] About the Desperate Housewives Debacle

Just when we had a positive citation of Filipinos in the international media scene, this nasty issue popped up:

#20 - Teri Hatcher insults Filipinos

So now of course the country is up in arms and an online petition has been started against both ABC and the producers of Desperate Housewives for the racial slur. The local blogosphere is pretty miffed about it as well - just check out some of the Filipino blogs you might already read and you can expect this to be mentioned within the week.

Why do we always get into these things? Before it was about being a country known for our maids - now they're claiming we have hack doctors too? Geez.

[Viral Video Chart] Barack vs Clinton

YouTube: YouChoose '08

We all know that the campaign war for the 2008 US Presidential elections have started pretty early, and this has gained recognition on the web as well. In fact, YouTube has even created a channel devoted to political videos from the candidates themselves. This is not to say they're the only one talking about politics. Leave it to the web community to create their own brand of videos for their respective candidates.

So as a new category for The Geeky Guide to Nearly Everything, I thought it might be interesting to highlight videos currently making waves over on the Viral Video Chart, which has always been in communication with the Geeky Guide in one way or another.

I was surprised to see that amongst the top 10 videos were two opposing videos playing on the classic "1984" theme as derived from an old commercial used for the Super Bowl, if I'm not mistaken. Which one do you like better?
