The Kre-O Transformers Micro-Changers blind bag figures are some of the more fun collectibles on the market today. But as with all blind bag toys, there's a way around the "blind" aspect of things if you study the packaging well enough.
As of April 2013, there have been a total of three waves released in this series - a preview wave and two "official" waves. So here's a quick guide to who is who and which is which for you fellow Kre-O collectors...
The first wave of Kre-O Micro-Changers consist of a set of 6 possible figures.
All you need to do to figure out which is which is to study to code at the bottom of the front of the packaging. The entire series of codes start with 22191 and end with a 1 digit number that is separate from the rest of the sequence. This is your clue as to which Kre-O Micro-Changer is in the bag.
Here's the run-down for you:
- 22191-7 Spinster
- 22191-8 Galvatron
- 22191-9 Sunstorm
- 22191-0 Crankstart
- 22191-1 Scorponok
The first full wave of Kre-O Micro-Changers figures features a set of 12 different Kreons for your enjoyment. This second wave features much more creative transformations and what I felt to be a serious effort to reduce the number of "extra" pieces that get left over depending on which mode you have the toy in.
This time around they moved the code from the front of the bag to the back. It's now printed along the upper edge and they typically start with the sequence 22981, followed by a 2-digit number this time around. And that only makes sense since there are in fact 12 figures in the series.
Here's the code list for Wave 1:
- 22981-40 Singe
- 22981-41 Inferno
- 22981-42 Springer
- 22981-43 Warpath
- 22981-44 Quickslinger
- 22981-45 Rampage
- 22981-46 Insecticon
- 22981-47 Blast Off
- 22981-48 Hook
- 22981-49 Dirge
- 22981-50 Airachnid
- 22981-51 Bludgeon
The most recent wave (as of this time) is Wave 2, which introduces another series of 12 different Kreons. The key difference with this wave is the fact that they've finally moved on from those weird flak jackets adopted from the Battleship Kre-O line that always covered up their chest panels This time around they relied more on one-sided panels that fit around the neck joint in order to keep the chest decals clear.
Like Wave 1, the code that you need to look for is on the top portion of the back side of the bag. The sequence begins with 30661 followed by a 2-digit number.
Here's the full code series:
- 30661-66 Bulkhead
- 30661-67 Hardshell
- 30661-68 Blight
- 30661-69 Arcee
- 30661-70 Acidwing
- 30661-71 Vehicon
- 30661-72 Scourge
- 30661-73 Powerglide
- 30661-74 Perceptor
- 30661-75 Lugnut
- 30661-76 Hoist
- 30661-77 Groove
I'll revisit this blog to add additional code lists should Hasbro continue to release additional blind bag waves (of which I'm fairly certain), so you can bookmark this page for future reference.
Happy Kre-O hunting!
Just FYI, only the last two numbers matter. The longer number is likely a batch or quality control number in case of a recall--I have a bag starting with 307.
