Music videos are often such an avant garde medium of expression. Let's face it - the same kind of creativity that can compress an interesting idea into the span of a 30-60 second commercial is perhaps best seen in the colorful medium that is the combination of music and the visualization that is the video.
Many try hard and fail, but that's all part of the challenge of gaining new heights and levels of creative expression. Then every now and then you get something like this piece that was just so darned interesting:
